Wishlist: Paul Newman’s Rolex, Apple’s newest speaker and more

From Paul Newman's Rolex to Apple's newest speaker, here's everything we want this week

Designed to be an all-in-one, multifunctional audio kit, the Seed turntable integrates both vinyl and wireless streaming into one beautiful wooden case. This record player is not only made with an exclusive “Tri-Point” suspension system which holds the platter and tonearm steady (guaranteeing vibration-free spinning), but also features an in-built 70W amp, two 1” tweeters and two 4” woofer drivers, as well as Wi-Fi- and bluetooth-compatible tech.

In what was an unsurprising response by Tim Cook to the Amazon Echo and Google Home, Apple has recently unveiled the Apple HomePod – a seven inch, mesh-wrapped cylindrical speaker that will be available in either white or space grey . Intended to “reinvent home music”, the latest ‘it’ product by the Cupertino giant uses seven different tweeters, a huge bass woofer that sits in the middle, and separates out all the different elements of a song into its composite parts before pulling it together into a “rich mix that can dominate the room”. Other specs include Siri, Apple’s iconic personnel assistant which will help with your daily tasks, including setting reminders and answering queries.

Trimmed with supple nubuck along the collar and sleeves and made from soft loopback cotton and cashmere-blend jersey from Italy, this classic hoodie is as luxurious to wear as it is stylish. Perfect to don either to the gym or on your long-haul flight, this is one menswear piece you’ll be wearing for years.

Whether you’re a daily or occasional shaver, you’ll need something to soothe and calm your skin once you’ve taken a razor to it. Not only does this aftershave balm arrive in sleek and stylish casing, but more importantly it contains a touch of menthol to prevent redness while the woody and bergamot scent will leave your face remarkably fresh.

Launched in 2015 by Palmer Johnson and now available for charter through Camper & Nicholsons, this gargantuan 49m yacht certainly caught our eye this week. With a saloon bar, dining area (which is helmed by a Michelin-trained chef), jacuzzi, an alfresco dining area, and enough room for you and ten other guests, there are some pretty convincing reasons why this should be high up on any man’s wish list this week. Better still, it’s the largest carbon yacht ever to be made, meaning that it’s incredibly economical on fuel.

This is perhaps the holy grail of the horological world: the actual Rolex Daytona model that was owned by Paul Newman, the man who is often thought to be responsible for driving up the value of all vintage Rolexes. “If you wind it, it tells pretty good time,’ Newman said to its current owner James Cox in 1978 when a young Cox informed the actor he didn’t own a watch. With an original cream dial and a case that’s in good shape, this piece of wrist armour is in incredible condition and is certainly one for all collectors out there.

Leica has been making its iconic M cameras for over half a decade, and last Thursday the German optics brand announced that it will release a M Monochrom camera that’s named after Jim Marshall, the man renowned for photographing rock icons such as Mick Jagger. This limited edition rangefinder will shoot only black-and-white photos, and its body and lens are finished in brass while Marshall’s signature is lasered onto the the top plate. This is one must-have piece of tech, but with only 50 models available you need to act fast.
