What’s On: The only 3 things you need to do this weekend

If you managed to survive the tube strikes yesterday and are feeling anything like us on this sunshine-filled Friday, you’re probably casting your mind lustfully out of the window and dreaming of how you will spend your precious weekend. No doubt you’ll find yourself in your local with friends and cold beers at some point in the next 72 hours, but, gentlemen, before you start sending the round-robin texts, why not venture outside your cultural comfort zones this weekend and try something just a little bit different. We’ve taken a look at all that this fair city has to offer and hand-picked a few of our favourite things just for you. Trust us, you won’t want to miss out on these this weekend…

KRUG & CHIPS

Krug & Chips - TGj.01

There are few real treats left in the world, but this latest one has certainly got to be up there with our favourites. Champagne and chips? Well gents, let me tell you, it really is the perfect combination and it doesn’t get more luxurious than here, with the talented Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers of Restaurant Story at the helm of this gourmet experience. The traditional British “chippy” gets a serious modern make-over in the heart of Covent Garden, with three irresistible dishes (each served with the perfect complement of Krug Grande Cuvée for £35/person), diners can choose from Lobster, Monkfish or Fish ‘in’ Chips.

N.B: you would be mad not to choose the lobster (wrapped in potato ‘spaghetti’, served with spicy yuzu mayonnaise) – although you should probably just try all three, you know, just to be safe. Lucky guests can delight their tastebuds within the seclusion of British chip shop-themed dining pods., Running From: 8th – 12th July For more information visit: moethennessy-selection.co.uk

LAMB ART GALLERY ‘IMPERMANENT INDELIBLE’

LAMB GALLERY - TGJ

Last night saw LAMB Arts Gallery in traditional Mayfair open its new exhibition ‘Impermanent Indelible’, a solo show by the young, but exceptionally talented British artist James Hillman. Drawing inspiration from a recent visit to Nepal, Hillmans body of work explores the natural processes of layering and erosion to create his emotive and striking paintings, photographs and sculptures. Paying homage to the impermanence of seemingly permanent things, the exhibition of works is certainly not one to miss. If you’re looking to discover the next hot young artist, this might just be him., Running From: 9th – 19th August For more information visit: lamb-arts.com
