Ted Baker’s SS17 collection is as cool as it is classy

The clothing company unveiled its new range with a striking, stylised shoot

It has been almost thirty years since the first Ted Baker store opened its doors in Glasgow. Three decades on, and the brand are still at the forefront of the fashion world, curating and creating collections to rival all other designers, whilst staying true to their own brand’s roots and identity.

In a Stepford Wives-esque new campaign, Ted Baker have unveiled their storming SS17 collection, their laid-back range of menswear quietly concealing a competitive streak. Relaxed shapes sport striped trims and luxury performance fabrics – such as neoprene and bonded jersey – have been merged seamlessly to afford everyday outfits the breathability and comfort benefits of workout gear.

Details such as rubberised zip cords and bungee-style pullers are pointedly placed throughout the collection to hint at athleisure without ever tipping fully into the overly casual fashion of the racetrack.

The overall look this season is one of subtle style. Offbeat, chalky tones may seem a little alternative – but they don’t shout about, or break the mould with too much noise. Instead, cloudy petrols and dusky pinks keep things grounded and timeless – and allow bright accents and textures to do the talking.

The classic Ted Baker floral shirt makes its obligatory appearance, short-sleeved in many new iterations and perfect for the Summer to come. And, expanding on these plant-based prints, there are new patterns, from art-deco tinted prints to flamingos – adding a new dimension to a Ted Baker classic look.

The prints have also moved inside, with linings add interest, as do small trims of bright blue or outrageous red. Not to mention the hints of prints in outerwear and jacketing, with floral blazers raising the formalwear bar and loud checks adorning three piece suits – with double breasted waistcoats for even more panache.

But texture – a highly sought-after feature in general this season – sees the most range. Delivered in spades, with suede, nylon outerwear and mouliné, these fabrics come second in the interest race only after wild stitching, piqued polos and intricate knits.

Ted Baker are committed to getting the best from every corner of their collection – not just the clothes. As such, the accessories show something different in their inclusion of scuba fabrics, branded webbing and rubberised leather finishes – luggage practically begging to be taken on an adventure this summer.

So if you’re to stay at home, or adventure abroad, Ted Baker have delivered a diverse and versatile range to keep you coolly clothed until Autumn rears its unwelcome head. From statement suits to reserved round neck jumpers, this is summer wear as it should be.

Ted Baker’s Love Ted promotion begins today, with 30% off selected lines.
