Gentleman’s Journal explores the new Mulberry pop-up in Spitalfields

We visit the luxury lifestyle brand’s new men’s focused pop-up shop, located in East London’s historic Old Spitalfields Market…

In East London’s historic Old Spitalfields Market, luxury lifestyle brand Mulberry has opened a pop-up shop — and Gentleman’s Journal headed down to see the mens accessories on show. Dedicated to artisanal craftsmanship, and a quintessentially British take on contemporary luxury, the curated selection of signature styles and new season accessories encompasses Mulberry’s diverse men’s offering.

The charming space also combines pieces from heritage ranges such as the brand’s timeless Clipper travel bags, as well as contemporary City styles, including the iconic Antony crossbody, and the brand’s new performance-led collections, such as the sports-influenced Utility Postman’s Lock collection.

Add to this an edit of men’s travel and tech accessories, trainers, and small leather goods, and there’s plenty to get hands-on with. Above, you can watch Gentleman’s Journal Editor, Joseph Bullmore, check out and handpick a selection of his favourite pieces on offer at the pop-up.

Every piece in the pop-up is underpinned by Mulberry’s ‘Made to Last’ ethos. All of the leather used to create the British brand’s new products is carbon neutral and sourced from environmentally accredited tanneries, with sustainable materials highlighted in our video including Eco Scotchgrain (a material that repurposes inedible cereal waste into a hard-wearing, lightweight material that looks and feels the same as textured leather).

There’s also bioacetate sunglasses, and recycled nylon used across the Performance range. But there’s even recycling of a different kind; with a selection of lovingly restored pre-loved and vintage Mulberry bags, from the Heritage Backpack to the Chiltern Small Briefcase on offer in the store. This is part of the ‘Mulberry Exchange’, the brand’s circular economy programme that ensures that each and every bag has many lives. It’s a suite of services that enables customers to have their Mulberry bags authenticated and expertly restored, with the opportunity to trade in their existing bag for credit towards either a new purchase, or a pre-loved style.

And, in these weeks before Christmas, the Spitalfields store will also showcase a variety of lifestyle brands that share Mulberry’s affinity for art, culture, and music. So, if you’re in the market for some vinyl from Rough Trade, a book from luxury publisher Assouline, a skateboard from Arbor or candles and home fragrances from Lola James Harper, head down to Spitalfields and discover the finest men’s styles from these ever timeless, ever desirable British brands — alongside Mulberry’s curated selection of signature styles and new season accessories.
