If you go down to the woods this week: The jubilant return of Krug Encounters

Here’s your last chance to secure the most coveted ticket in the Champagne world — and enjoy some world-class music along the way…

You might think that Krug Champagne could find itself a little stumped at the prospect of pulling yet another show stopping event out of the bag for this year’s Krug Encounters. Since launching the initiative in 2016, the house has tied together music, fizz and feasting in effervescent harmony, and transformed both Osea Island and the Grange Estate in Hampshire for the occasion. Last year, they raised the bar yet again, as guests boarded an opulent private train with the legendary Jools Holland for its immersive ‘Tracks on Tracks’ event.

Fear not, however, if you’re worried you’ve missed the boat (or should that be train) on attending the single chicest event in the Champagne world, because the chance has come around again for you to be swept away for a day of drinking, dining, and dancing. This year, the encounter is called Rhythm and Ride, and invites guests to enjoy a musical fairground hidden away from London, all curated by the award-winning musical icon Neneh Cherry.

To this year’s lucky attendees, the legendary singer will proudly present an incredible line-up of all-female singer-songwriters – a first for the Champagne house. Among the performers are the London born-and-based singer Cosima, soulful jazz voice Yazmin Lacey from Nottingham and French electronic producer Oklou. Speaking on her partnership with Krug, Neneh Cherry says, “I am delighted to have been asked to curate such an exciting encounter, collaborating with one of the most prestigious champagne houses, Maison Krug.

“It has been really special to be able to discover the world of Krug and its connections and storytelling around music. Music, a huge part of my life, is such an emotional experience and I have relished the opportunity to bring together a line-up of powerful, up and coming, female artists for Krug Encounters – Rhythm and Ride – each with their own style and sound.”

For Krug, music and musical experiences are a unique language which can be used to explain the craftsmanship behind each of its bottles. Through music, the house believes that they can reach more people, and talk about its Champagnes emotionally — replacing any alienating technical vocabulary. And, as it presents its latest Grande Cuvée to the fortunate few who score a golden ticket this week, guests can expect a masterpiece of musical winemaking.

Tickets are priced at £450 per person, and include:

  • A selection of exceptional Krug Champagnes including the recently presented Krug Grande Cuvée 167ème Édition & Krug Rosé 23ème Édition
  • Three musical performances
  • A selection of beautifully created food, snacks and refreshments, served throughout the day
  • Return transfers from Bearsted Railway Station to the event location and back
