IWC and British Film Institute unveil new ‘London Film Festival’ watch

The limited edition timepiece celebrates IWC's role as official time sponsor of the festival

Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen have unveiled their new, limited-edition timepiece – the ‘BFI London Film Festival 2016’.

Essentially a Pilot’s Watch Spitfire Chronograph Edition with some alternative styling, the special timepiece celebrates the partnership between the watchmakers and the British Film Institute, who are two years into a five-year shared sponsorship deal for the capital-based festival.

Only 60 of these exclusive stainless steel watches will be made and, on an elegant blue alligator strap and with an inscription of ‘BFI Film Forever’ on the case back, they are a treat for watch and film enthusiasts alike.

The stopwatch function of the standard Pilot’s Watch Spitfire has been retained, as has the date display and screw-in crown. Additionally, the glass is secured against any displacement by drops in air pressure.

The timepiece also features IWC in-house 89365-calibre movement alongside a chronograph and flyback function. Sapphire glass encases the face and the watch is water-resistant to over 50 metres.

The BFI London Film Festival is scheduled to take place in October and IWC’s limited edition companion watch is now available at the IWC Boutique on London’s New Bond Street.
