Inside Ashberg House, a luxury Chelsea villa

We step inside the sumptuous five-floor London property on Cathcart Road

For some, house names can say a lot about a certain property. It’s probably one of the reason why Ashberg House is so-called. At first, its title might seem quite innocuous, but the Ashberg was in fact a 102 carat, cushion-cut diamond once included in the Russian Crown jewels.

Situated right in the middle of Chelsea on Cathcart Road, this capacious property comes with five floors arranged over nearly 9,000 square feet and is available with Knight Frank, is a premium residence replete with all the facilities and flourishes that a discerning buyer should want.

With interiors created by leading design firm Morpheus Studios (who also worked on the the design of decorative furnishings for Six Senses Residences Courchevel and Thirty Nine member’s club in Monte Carlo), this five- bedroomed property boasts large contemporary open-plan spaces and interiors comprised of glass, black basalt and bronze that ooze elegance and ingenuity. It also comes as no surprise to learn that 90% of its furniture was designed bespokely for the property.

On the ground floor, a large reception is juxtaposed with an atrium decked in a stunning sculptural installation suspended from the ceiling, before progressing past the reception, into the entrance hall and out into the privacy and tranquility of the forecourt.

Up on the Garden floor, a sumptuous lounge and family area also encompasses a kitchen and an impressive wine gallery. Towards the back, there is also a service kitchen, staff quarters, plus one of the guest bedrooms (four out of the five are ensuite). On this level alone, the intricate sense of design flair provides a next-level quality of living that outstrips a traditional Chelsea villa.

As James Pace, Head of Knight Frank’s Chelsea office notes: “Ashberg House stands in a class of its own in the surrounding area, bringing a masterful blend of contemporary design and intricate detailing. The space has been maximised to incorporate all of the amenities expected of a modern luxury residence in the most efficient way possible.”

With this in mind, most impressive then is the spa floor. It contains not only a gym and a cinema, but a 13 x 4m pool, sauna and drench shower and comes with a inviting pool lounge. If anything represent peak chill after a hard day wandering around Sloane Street (a mere 7 minutes away), then it’s in here.

Above this sits the commanding master suite with art panels behind the main bed, imperiously sharing the level with a commodious ensuite, dressing room and study area, while the remaining three bedrooms cap off the top level, the smallest of which is a not unreasonable 3.2 x 2.7m.

Close to transport links and a mere five minutes by car from Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge ground, this is a truly bespoke property for the unique individual, and one almost as multifaceted as the diamond it is named after.
