Would this be the greatest superyacht ever built?

It may not yet have hit the water, but Roberto Curto's 101m concept is already making waves

Long before superyachts take to the sea – even before a bottle of champagne is smashed across their hull – they are dreamt up in the minds of designers. These ideas are turned into drawings, which are in turn transformed into renderings. That is what you’re looking at here, the astounding renderings of Roberto Curto’s new 101m motor yacht concept.

Now, we’d never usually feature a superyacht until it was cutting through the water, and being enjoyed by the high and mighty abroad its decks. But we’re sure you agree that this vessel is worth an exception – and, with several well-qualified buyers already showing serious interest in the remarkable project, we expect it to translate from the screen to the surf at a rate of knots.

101 metres long, and with several standout design features, this is a titan of a superyacht. The external central staircase, which will take guests directly from the helipad on the bow, over the superstructure and round to the aft deck, is a particularly noteworthy feature of the design. At the aft, the stairs will descend gracefully on two sides of a playful waterslide, which will splash down into the pool.

Inspired by the flow of lava cascading down the side of a volcanic mountain, Curto calls his creation Mauna Kea – named for the 10,000 metre dormant volcano on the island of Hawaii. He believes that the vessel would be perfect for expeditions and adventurers alike, or those who want to cruise the world in stylish luxury.

Curto himself, clearly a visionary, has been instrumental in the design of over 70 yachts under 72 meters since his firm RC Design was founded in 2004. This latest venture, however, marks a push to enter the mega superyacht market – and has been buoyed by the support and partnership of SuperYachtsMonaco who are keen to collaborate on larger vessels.
