Gentleman’s Journal take the Lamborghini Urus off-road in Portugal
In the spectacular surf arena of Nazarè, Richard Biedul gets behind the wheel of the Italian carmaker’s fearsome SUV for a coastal roadtrip
There’s no denying that the Lamborghini Urus is a hot-blooded Italian beast. Forged from necessity, the car first reared its roaring head in 2012 — a all-wheel-drive answer to cars such as the Bentley Bentayga and Porsche Cayenne.
But, over the decade that followed, the car has driven its own path. As perhaps the luxury SUV closest to its supercar roots, the Urus is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 and can reach an enviable top speed of almost 190 mph.
We sent friend of Gentleman’s Journal, Richard Biedul, to Nazarè — the famously dynamic section of Portuguese coast favoured by daredevil surfers — to test the Urus. And, from doing hot laps on Praia do Norte beach to driving off-road from Nazarè Port, the car’s capability speaks for itself. Just take a look above…
Want more behind-the-scenes car action? We went to Bentley’s factory to take a look at the production line…
