In Knightsbridge – and bedecked in cognac-coloured oak – is possibly the most exclusive gym in London. For those of you tired of waiting for faulty machines, wiping other people’s sweat off benches and getting changed in packed communal changing rooms, this is paradise – but it is only for the few.
Forming part of the Bulgari Hotel & Residences, one of the most exclusive spas in central London is the creation of Antonio Citterio, Patricia Viel and Partners – a glittering, 2,000 square-metre mecca of health with a contemporary Italian design ethos influenced by the rich heritage of the luxury brand.
Arranged over two levels, the spa and gym boasts a 25-metre swimming pool lined with shimmering green and gold mosaic tiles, and a vitality pool tiled entirely by gold lead mosaic. The roster of 11 individual treatment rooms are topped off by a Bulgari Private Spa Suite – featuring two treatment beds, dressing room with private bathroom, steam shower, and over-sized hydro massage tub with spectacular green onyx backdrop.
And that’s before we even get to the saunas, steam rooms, ice fountains and cooling showers – all connected to a candlelit relaxation room clad in the signature Vicenza stone and featuring an impressive open fireplace.
The swimming pool has floors made from sandblasted Vicenza stone, and inviting cabanas with flowing fabric are positioned around the pool area between naturally lit dramatic white columns. The nearby vitality pool – designed to cleanse and detoxify skin – features massaging jets of air and water to relieve tired muscles and increase circulation, not to mentioned a spectacular waterfall.
The gymnasium itself is equipped handsomely with the latest Technogym cardiovascular and strength machines, and completed by a well-stocked free weights area. Personal trainers are also on hand to help guests achieve their exact fitness goals – a little better than where you’re going now? Working out has never felt so easy.
