Meet the richest man you’ve (probably) never heard of
Behind the success of fashion juggernaut Zara is the unassuming Amancio Ortega – a man of humility, intellect and mystery. And although the Spaniard was brought up in poverty and deprivation, today he’s a business titan with an enormous net worth; on four occasions he’s been ranked as the world’s richest person, but has always surrendered the position within a day. Because of this, you’d be forgiven for thinking he was a cash-flashing playboy who shines brightly under the limelight; but he isn’t and he doesn’t. Despite his status and bank balance, many have never heard of him, and this is due mainly to the fact he remains a private individual who’s only given a handful of interviews throughout his prosperous career.
