Is this the must-have shoe of the season?

With the Bibury, Crockett & Jones revisits a classic shoe for the warmer months ahead

Summer is nearly here. We're in the throes of spring. Now that the sun is shining (and hopefully will remain with us), you might be thinking about getting your wardrobe in order for the months ahead. Out with the thick coats and sturdy boots and in with something lighter, more warm weather-appropriate. Floaty linen shirts and vests. And while doing that might seem daunting, or like it's a big job, it needn't be. You don't need to do a full wardrobe overhaul Marie Kondo style, and sometimes a good pair of shoes is all you need to inject some summer vibes into your pre-existing outfits.

And fortunately, Crockett & Jones has just dropped a pair of shoes that will likely see you through the next few months (and then some). The Bibury is a relaxed adaptation of a firm favourite of ours, The Chukka. The OG Crockett & Jones Chukka is an unlined ankle height chukka boot made from the finest suede and features single leather soles.

But the Bibury takes that classic shoe, which sits high and mighty in Crockett & Jones core collection and is based on a traditional decades-old style that has been worn by the likes of Daniel Craig and Zac Efron, and gives it a little edge. By way of the label's new chunkier, wedge rubber sole and a butted seam apron, it has been modernised and given a bit more character. It differentiates it from other chukkas out there. It's a contemporary take on a classic, that can be dressed up or worn more casually. Pair it with shorts or wear it with your favourite straight-leg slacks. It's the shoe that we'll be chucking on all summer. In shorts, it's going to be your best mate this spring, and then again in summer.

The Bibury also comes in two smart colourways: Snuff Suede and Earth Green Suede. Both are versatile and while suede is often overlooked as a shoe to be worn in the UK, what with our unpredictable weather, when you know the weather's going to shape up decently, the Bibury will be the must-have shoe for the day. What's more, each pair of shoes has been manufactured in the mecca of British shoemaking Northampton, like all Crockett & Jones shoes have been since 1879. They are built from sturdy stuff, so even if that weather does take a turn, you can get on with the comfort of knowing your shoes will stand up to it.
