Crockett & Jones is taking thing to new heights this autumn

The Northamptonshire-based footwear brand has unveiled a collection fit for the highest peaks

Words: Zak Maoui

Right now you might not be thinking too much about winter footwear, but before you know it, the summer will be over and the cool blast will be here. Yep, believe it or not, summer doesn't last forever.

Well, makes sense then that Crockett & Jones, the Northamptonshire-based shoemaker with a passion for creating longer-lasting footwear in style, has unveiled its Autumn/Winter 2025 campaign. The new offering, titles Winter Altitude, lands in stores in September and is based around an alpine experience - fitting for those cooler winter months, eh? "The Alps are Europe’s winter playground," read a press release. "Mountainous terrain as far as the eye can see, boasting Autumnal forests and lakes filled with crystal clear meltwater. Surrounded by natural beauty, alpine towns and villages, with row after row of traditional chalets without their winter coats. Seeking out a proving ground for a newly developed side leather, the only option was to chase altitude (within reason!).

Crockett & Jones’ collection is ready to be worn in the wild, but are also fitting for city-wear. The shoes on offer are built, not just to look good as with all Crockett & Jones shoes, but to last too. The collection consists of the brand's most waterproof winter-ready boots to date: Islay and Grizedale. Both are made from the newly developed Dark Brown Waterproof Side leather, a flexible and super-comfortable leather tanned by the Horween Leather Company based in Chicago. It is an impressive winter leather that can handle pretty much everything, from being submerged in streams to trekking in deep snow. Both the Islay and Grizedale boots are shod in a high-grip cleated rubber sole and they aslo feature a waterproof membrane between the outer leather and the lining, bellows- tongues and reverse storm welts. In short, they boots are impenetrable.

Meanwhile, the collection isn't just about wet and windy strolls in Nature's playground. Crockett & Jones is introducing a new loafer, fit for winter-wear. Taking the form of the Boston 2, the new loafer is cut from wax-impregnated Rough-Out suede in two colour options, Dark Brown and Green. It comes with a lightweight Vibram rubber sole with a reverse storm welt. The result: A Winter Loafer proper.

Elsewhere the collection comprises Windermere, a plain-front Derby, Chepstow 2, a 3-eyelet Chukka and Elgin, a low-cut Chelsea Boot, all cut from durable suede. The Galway 3 is a new style for Crockett & Jones and is the latest low-leg hand-pulled apron Derby boot.
