Chopard strike gold with their first ever minute repeater

The L.U.C Full Strike features a number of world premiere features

We know it’s beautiful, but there’s a story behind the new L.U.C Full Strike – Chord’s first ever minute repeater – that you need to hear. So close your mouth, and open your ears instead.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Chopard Manufacture, a highly capable manufacture in Fleurier, Switzerland, that has been producing some great looking in-house movements for the last two decades. To celebrate this landmark, the watchmaker have been working for more than six years on its most sophisticated chiming watch to date.

Striking the hours, quarters and minutes on sapphire gongs, this standout model is in a league of its own thanks to its original construction, the excellent of its Poinçon de Genève finishing, and above all its extraordinary sound. But just how does this refined and easy-wear model epitomise the best of the Chopard Manufacture expertise, inventiveness and quality?

In Fairmined rose gold, the 42.5mm case showcases the beauty of Chord’s timepieces. The open worked dial houses a substantial number of technical solutions, making it one of the most innovative watches not only in the company’s history, but on the market as a whole.

One such of these innovations is the inclusion of transparent crystal gongs. The main selling point of this beautiful watch, these sapphire rings are an integral part of the watch glass, and they create a perfect loudspeaker that diffuses the chime produced when the hammer strikes the sapphire. A unique technical solution, this quirk is visible at 10 o’clock and results in a tone of matchless purity that is rich and full, powerful and resonant.

533 movement parts make up this 18k timepiece, and the sound it produces is not metallic, cold or abrupt, but instead full-bodied and truly crystal-clear. The gongs are tuned to two notes: C and F, and the tonal richness boasts unprecedented amplitude.

You’ve heard the saying ‘crystal-clear’, but this watch embodies the phrase.
