The authority in men’s fashion that we should all be listening to

We delve deeper into one of Britain's most iconic stores

As one of the most important authorities in menswear over the years, there’s a reason why gentlemen return time and time again to one of the most iconic department stores in the world, Harrods.

Since the launch of their own bespoke tailoring service for men in 1890 and then their own dedicated tailoring workshops in 1915, they have built up an untouchable reputation amongst sartorially switched-on men all over the world.

Despite all of this history, there’s no denying that the menswear landscape has dramatically changed (and improved) over the last decade. Tastes have grown and individuality has prevailed, but no matter the unique tastes of a gentleman, the one necessity that remains imperative is the need for fundamental essentials. Whether that’s something as simple as a white tee or as individual as a bespoke suit, the need for certain basic essentials is what men return to Harrods for time and time again. And now, Harrods are about to open the doors on their brand-new dedicated made-to-measure lounge, with shirting and suiting available from brands such as Eton, Canali and Turnbull & Asser.

This month, Harrods have launched the ‘Anatomy of Style’ campaign, a truly innovative concept that stands heads and shoulders higher than the competition. The idea? To celebrate the style components that make up the DNA of a man’s unique wardrobe, alongside an analysis of what makes certain pieces work well together. They’ve also joined together with some of the biggest influencers in menswear, from Nick Wooster to Matthew Zorpas.

2016 was a prevalent year for Menswear at Harrods after the relaunch of their Men’s Designer Collections and S.U.N (socks, underwear, nightwear) – hence their idea to make use of the interested garnered from men all over the world through the launch of the ‘Anatomy of Style’. Their newly refurbished menswear department on the Lower Ground Floor spans nearly 2, 500 sq/ft and hosts classic, wardrobe essential brands from John Smedley and Canali, to Boglioli and Private White V.C.
