Due to its slow-fashion lines that champion British heritage and utilitarian essentials, modern menswear brand Aubin has been carving its own sphere in sartorial circles for a number of years. For its AW23 collection, titled ‘Green and Pleasant Land’, the label has taken its cues from the custodians and stewards of the bucolic British countryside – namely the farmers and those who work the land. The result, a perfect showcase of Modern British design, zones in on multi-purpose layering pieces for the transitional season, drawing upon heritage materials – such as corduroy, wool and wax – and traditional techniques, with a particular emphasis on knitwear made with new stitch details and yarns.
This season, Aubin will also launch its second standalone store, which will open on George Street, Edinburgh, one of the city’s main retail drags, and will showcase the full collection, including all Made in UK items.
To celebrate this new Scottish opening, Aubin is partnering with The Balvenie – another venture that champions British craft and whose speciality is the production of Scottish single-malts – to offer one of our readers several prizes. First up is the chance to win £1,500 to spend with Aubin, ideal for the lucky winner to perfect their autumn-winter wardrobe for the upcoming cold-weather months.
In addition to this, the winner will also receive a one-night stay at The Balvenie Distillery, in Dufftown, Speyside, in north-east Scotland, where they’ll be given VIP accommodation on 3 November, along with a guided tour of the distillery (including the Cooperage and Malting Floor), a VIP tasting, and a dinner on site.
To take the experience home, the winner will also be given a 75cl bottle of The Balvenie A Revelation of Cask and Character, which has been aged for 19 years and is noted for its bold yet balanced profile that comprises cherries, currants, chewy fig and rich cacao.
Ahead of the trip up to the Balvenie distillery, the winner will also have a one-night luxury stay at The Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh on 2 November. A King Premier room with views out to the castle will be provided, as well as dinner at the hotel’s celebrated restaurant, Grazing by Mark Greenaway, to the value of £200 and breakfast to set you up for the onward journey north. The Waldorf Astoria, located on Princes Street, is a five-star bolthole set in a one-time rail station, and combines a contemporary scheme with the building’s original Victorian features.
