7 reasons why you should visit Bermuda

Why you need to visit this incredible island, immediately

This beautiful, tiny island may have been on the radar of the rich and the famous for years, but thanks to its recent involvement with The America’s Cup, it’s getting bigger and better as the seasons come and go. Here are 7 reasons to visit this stunning island before the rest of the world gets to it.

Later this month, Bermuda’s sparkling blue waters will play host to the 35th America’s Cup, presented by Louis Vuitton, so the island will already be filled with beautiful boats. Just ahead of the world’s most prestigious sailing regatta, the island will also host the Superyacht Regatta, an epic three day event where yachts over 24m in length battle it out for the America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta Trophy.

Bermuda is known for its stunning beaches, which sit there remaining largely untouched. From bright white sand to luxurious pink hues, these beaches only add to Bermuda’s true element of escapism – what’s not to love?

Bermuda officially has more golf courses per capita than anywhere else in the world, and we truly can’t think of a more glorious place to play 18 holes. From Belmont Hills to Ocean View, the choice is endless and nothing on this beautiful island will disappoint – trust us.

Next month, Bermuda is hosting the prestigious 35th America’s Cup, presented by Louis Vuitton on Bermuda’s Great Sound (the world-famous natural amphitheatre where the race will take place). There are six teams competing – one of which will be Ben Ainslie’s Land Rover BAR – for the winning trophy, and the time, money and effort that’s been put into the race guarantees that it’s not one to miss.

Visiting Bermuda from somewhere in Europe is much easier than you think, so why not spend your hard-earned money on one of the most incredible hotels in the world? The Hamilton Princess and Beach Club overlooking Hamilton harbour has just undergone a $100million renovation, with new marina, spa and infinity pool is undoubtedly breathtaking; from its fine dining restaurant Marcus (from famed New York chef Marcus Samuelson) to its incredible array of in-house art collection that’s home to the likes of Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons and Warhol, what’s not to love?

The well-versed downfall for Europeans is the severity of the seasons and therefore the lack of winter sun. Escape the doom and gloom of the winter and head to Bermuda during the winter to get your yearly dose of vitamin D. Sure, it might be a little bit cooler than the Bahamas, but with temperatures rarely dropping below 16 degrees, it certainly beats Britain’s bracing winds.

As you’d expect with any island, the food is as fresh as it gets. Whether you’re a seafood lover or not, there’s something for everyone in some of the world’s most prestigious restaurants and delicious local eateries. Cocktails are also out of this world, particularly the Bermudian Dark ‘n’ Stormy which is loved by everyone who tastes it.
