Yacht of the week: Soundwave

This award-winning 63-metre Benetti brings Art Deco's golden age back to life on the water.

The inter-war period was a golden age for many things. From experimental architecture, cinema and celebrity, and elegant cars and boats; all influenced by the Art Deco movement. The style was characterised by sleek geometric shapes, intense symmetry, rich colours and machine-age materials; all of which can be found throughout Soundwave, the 63 metre Benetti-built superyacht, fresh from her 2025 refit.

Soundwave’s staterooms, bars and spas make mean she’s equally suited to glamorous social gatherings as she is to intimate family escapes.

The work of Candy & Candy, the interiors and property development firm owned by billionaire brothers Nick and Christian Candy, Soundwave’s state rooms and deck spaces offer a rare blend of thoughtful hospitality and refined style. “She is equally suited to glamorous social gatherings as she is to intimate family escapes,” says Hemmo Bloemers, director of Roccabella Yachts, who are offering her for charter.

Launched in 2015 as 11.11, she won the World Superyacht Awards one year later and spent the better part of a decade collecting admirers in every harbour from Portofino to the BVIs. Today, she is the perfect charter yacht, at the perfect size.

The award-winning 63 metre Benetti was launched in 2015 and fully refitted in 2025.

With a distinctive silhouette, Soundwave’s naval architecture and unique exterior design is the work of her builder, Benetti. Where most superyachts favour the conventional, sweeping curves, Benetti gave Soundwave an imposing near-vertical axe bow that slices through the water, contrasting with the curved superstructure towards the rear.

The twelve-guest setup is split across six cabins. The upper deck suite commands 180-degree views over the bow, with a private foredeck pool and its own outdoor lounge. The main deck master is full-beam, flooded with natural light and comes with a walk-in dressing room and a study. The remaining four cabins, a mix of doubles and convertibles, continue the marble-and-mirror bathroom theme throughout. It’s a layout that is engineered for families or large groups.

Out on deck, the sundeck aft has the sophisticated charm of a private villa. Elegant furniture is scattered around the central spa-inspired pool, complete with a bar carved from over a tonne of Italian stone; the sort of details one is more likely to find on dry land. Up on the upper deck, a 14-seat dining table sits alongside another unique bar, catering to long lunches that go on well into the early evening.

The wellness offering goes further than the usual token massage table. There’s a mosaic-tiled steam room, a white marble treatment room with an on-board masseuse, and smoky quartz stones for good measure.

The toy box covers the expected territory, so expect jet skis, flyboards, Seabobs, wakeboards, kayaks, windsurfers, and a full range of inflatables. There’s also room for a custom 8-metre Benetti limousine tender that hits 38 knots, for trips in and out of port.

Available for charter with Roccabella Yachts, Soundwave is a vessel that would have turned heads in the inter-war years just as readily as she does today. As far as this 63 metre, floating Art Deco palace is concerned, the golden age of travel never really ended.

Soundwave is cruising the Western Mediterranean this summer. For charter enquiries, contact Roccabella Yachts.
