The worst jobs of 2016 are…

A new report has researched and ranked the worst professions to be in this year. With the advent of certain technologies, some careers have been hit hard whilst others are subject to other pressures that make them a stressful occupation to be in. CareerCast has examined criteria such as income, environment, stress and hiring rates for hundreds of jobs and compiled a list of those which would be worth getting out of sooner rather than later. These are the worst jobs of 2016, Stateside at least:

10. Firefighter

Growth outlook to 2024: 5%

9. Taxi driver

Median salary: $23,210

Growth outlook to 2024: 13%

8. Advertising sales

Median salary: $47,890

Growth outlook to 2024: -3%

7. Retail sales

Median salary: $21,670

Growth outlook to 2024: 7%

6. Pest Control Worker

Median salary: $30,660

Growth outlook to 2024: -1%

5. Enlisted Military Personnel

Median salary: $27,936

Growth outlook to 2024: N/A

4. Disc Jockey

Median salary: $29,010

Growth outlook to 2024: -11%

3. Broadcaster

Median salary: $37,200

Growth outlook to 2024: -9%

2. Logger

Median salary: $35,160

Growth outlook to 2024: -4%

1. Newspaper Reporter

Median salary: $37,200

Growth outlook to 2024: -9%

So throwing yourself into burning buildings, being shot at it and the risk of being crushed by a recently felled tree are all better than working for The Mirror.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for a career change, data scientists, statisticians, information security analysts, audiologists and diagnostic medical sonographers have it pretty good right now, apparently.
