Our friends at Twenty Something London pick their top five plans for the week to get involved in, all over London. This time round they’ve got all types of pop-up wine bars, book chats, and more.
Pop-up Bar, Balham
Laura & Kiki, the girls from A Grape Night In, are back in South London with an alpine inspired pop-up wine bar, opening every Friday night until 20th December. They breathe new life into the stale world of wine tasting, and bring youth and excitement to their tasting sessions, ideal for a winter chilly night.
Etcetera Theatre, Camden Town
The All In One Theatre Company presents ‘Ernest’, at the well known pub theatre, Etcetera Theatre. Witness this sparkling new version of the Oscar Wilde classic with an up to the minute musical version of his play. Expect false identities to be brought into today’s world of alternative online personalities. It’s Wilde, but not as you know it!
Book Chat: The violent art of crime fiction
Kings Place, Kings Cross
Three of the UK’s best crime writers, S. J. Bolton, Andrew Taylor, and MG Gardiner will be discussing their new releases as well as having group discussions on the controversial issue of violence. Whether you’re a keen reader looking for some new books, an avid writer wanting some tips, or someone who enjoys crime, the team at Kings Place have the perfect Monday night for you.
Congo, Poetry and Music with JJ Bola
Amnesty UK, Shoreditch High Street
In aid of raising awareness for Save The Congo (http://www.savethecongo.org.uk/), here comes an evening of live Congolese music and poetry performed by the truly inspiring writer and poet JJ Bola. Help out a great cause while enjoying wine, cheese and entertainment.
Essex Road, Canonbury
Trekking up Essex Road, away from the hectic madness of Angel, you’ll find Hops & Glory, a corner pub born in December 2012 thanks to Durham Atkinson, a former cocktails fanatic who became increasingly interested in the craft’s world. They make the most of the ever changing list of beers, monthly tastings of quality spirits, meet the brewer events and one-off parties.
