What’s On This Week – 5 Things

What to Watch On TV – Red Nose Day CelebrationsRed Nose Day is such an important movement to raise money for Comic Relief. After the wild success of the Give it Up for Comic Relief show hosted by Russell Brand last week (which I must say was brilliant, and I was thrilled to be able to see it live) the comedic crew is now taking over the BBC for a three hour telethon! This programming is not to be missed! With top comedians as presenters, special comedic episodes of regular programmes, and dares and wild stunts completed by celebrities, you will be sure to be entertained this Friday. Tune in for a laugh for a good cause!

What To Watch In the Cinema – Side EffectsThis film can be classified as a smart moral drama, filled with twists and turns. Nothing is as it seems, and no one is who they portray. The psychiatrist becomes the patient, the victim becomes the perpetrator, a loyal partner betrays their beloved. In a pharmaceutically dependant world, the majority of characters in this story are reliant on pills. These prescription drugs dictate every aspect of their lives. When taking any drug, you accept the risk. Using a new med can lead to dizziness, dry throat, drowsiness, but how about adulteration, insomnia, sleepwalking, and murder? When it is found that this new drug, Ablixa is causing particularly devastating side effects, a case is opened up to get to the bottom of what went wrong. Usually we associate medicine as a positive thing, especially when it can cure mental illnesses, but as everyone knows, all drugs have side effects.

Exhibition – Lichtenstein: A Retrospective ExhibitThe Tate Modern, in conjunction with the Art Institute of Chicago, are bringing 125 of Lichtenstein’s greatest prints and sculptures to London for a limited time. Roy Liechtenstein was known as one of the greatest American artists of the twentieth century. As the King of Pop Art, Liechtenstein’s works had a “comic book” and ad-like style. Hand painted Benday dots, bright primary colors, and basic designs were all characteristic of his unique style. This artist used a broad range of materials for the medium of his works including paintings on Rowlux and steel, paper, and ceramic and brass sculptures. Fancy a bit of creative education? The Tate Modern is hosting “Wham! Print! Pop!” workshops on Monday evenings throughout the duration of the exhibit ending 25 March.

What To Drink – Afternoon Tea at The BalconOne of the most classic (and classy) British traditions is afternoon tea. You don’t have to be in the company of Queen Elizabeth to feel like a royal, you need only reserve a table in the Rose Lounge of the Sofitel. Afternoon tea is served from 2:30pm-5:30pm, and pre-booking is highly suggested. Whilst enjoying the pink hues of the decadent decor of the Rose Lounge, your taste buds will be pampered. No high tea is complete without champagne, crafted hot tea, finger sandwiches, and a platter of desserts. The Sofitel doesn’t just do tea, they offer a luxury tea experience. Book Here £24.50

As the London weather has been less than ideal for a day on the boat or a picnic in the park, this spa is the ideal place to take her. The ‘her’ that we are referring to doesn’t have to be your other half, this would also be a great belated Mother’s day surprise, or a nice treat for your sister or female friend. Trust me, as a woman, nothing is more amazing than relaxation and pampering, and this spa is known for both! Ushvani offers a variety of treatments including body massages, facials and enhancements. It is fully equipped with all the best facilities including a spa pool, steam room, couples suite, relaxation room, sentosas studio, and a tea room.
