We love… Leica’s New Leica T

Words: Violet

Here at The Gentleman’s Journal, we have always been a fan of Leica. A German brand that embodies true style, care, craftsmanship and a confluence of design and engineering; you know that if you have a Leica camera you are in good hands when it comes to delivering top quality and enjoyable photography. This is why we were very excited to be invited to the launch of the new Leica T.

Taking a look at the exterior design of the Leica T, you can see their back to basics, non-fuss approach in the lack of buttons – a refreshing departure from previous more traditional systems from the brand. Moulded from a single block of aluminium, the Leica T is rather heavy yet exceedingly elegant placing it in the luxury section of the industry. Much of the camera is operated using the large 3.7 inch LCD touchscreen which covers the entire back face of the camera. It is easily digestible and quick to use especially for their new demographic, the smartphone savvy audience of modern creatives. In terms of the design, the screen adds to the simplistic, minimalistic nature of the camera and, furthermore, it showcases the thing that is most important: the picture.

Internally, there is a 16.5 million-pixel APS-C sized sensor camera with new image processing technology which allows for a sensitivity range of ISO 100-12500. Other features include both manual and automatic aperture control, integrated WI-FI which allows the user to transfer the photos very quickly to their smartphone, desktop or tablet. It is these new, modern additions that ensure the Leica T’s appeal to a whole new market of photographers.

In collaboration with their partner AUDI design, Leica have crafted a whole host of accessories to accompany the camera. These include a selection of colourful T-Snap skin protectors avalible in melon yellow, orange red, black and white as well as a selection of leather holsters and protectors. Additional accessories include an SF 26 Flash, Visoflex and an M-Adapter T which allows the user to mount more than 20 lenses from the M-system Leica.

Sleek, stylish, contemporary and dynamic – the Leica T would make the perfect camera for any modern gentleman.
