As Christmas draws ever closer, there’s one event that stands out as a defining sign that the festive season is upon us. We are of course talking about the release of Peter Jackson’s final instalment of The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies.
With new faces and old favourites making appearances, we cannot wait to see the additions to the cast that brought the book to life two years ago. Ian McKellan one again leads the charge as Gandalf and we can expect the finale to be as grand and visually spectacular as it was in the Lord of the Rings films. With many storylines to tie up and so many plot points not even begun, this film promises to provide non-stop excitement from start to finish. With Martin Freeman’s excellent portrayal of Bilbo, perhaps there’ll even be a few tears.
For those who grew up loving the stories, this is the culmination of the legacy that JRR Tolkien started and from the look of the trailer we’re not going to be disappointed. The fantasy film (enjoyable even for those who don’t like fantasy) promises to be packed with the mighty battles, fearsome beasts and brave heroes – all the things we have come to expect from the franchise that gives us glimpses in the world of Middle Earth.
