LC:M – THE SS15 TRENDS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT
Words: Holly Macnaghten
After a champagne fuelled three days at London Mens Collections, it’s fair to say that some of the trends we saw raising their not so pretty heads were not, shall we say, terribly ‘gentleman’s journal’ (we’re talking to you flares and sumo-style) so, instead we take a look at the trends you do need to know about for next spring/summer…
CONTEMPORARY RIVIERA, , It was a wonderfully gentlemanly affair at many of the shows and presentations this year, with a real emphasis on tailoring. From blue candy stripes at Hackett, to a more muted palette at Gieves & Hawkes, next summer is going to be very dapper indeed – and we can’t wait., (Left to Right: Gieves & Hawkes, Hackett, Ede & Ravenscroft)

CHECK MATE
, Last season saw square styling come out on top, from oversized to barely even visible, they were everywhere, but if we’re being totally honest, we prefer the checks that were going on this time around. Take note from Duchamp and pair with white trousers for a timeless look., (Left to Right: Hardy Amies, Richard James, Duchamp)

WILD WEST MEETS SAFARI STYLE, , No doubt in a matter of a months this trend will have it’s own unique and fashion-y name, but until then, we’ll leave it as we have. Tom Ford brought us the wild west side of things with jeans, suede jackets and neckerchiefs, whilst Richard James kept things very Peter Beard-esque, with map-print scarves and khakis – vacation dressing will be breeze come this time next year., (Left to Right: Burberry, Richard James, Tom Ford)

THE NEW PASTELS…., This season was all about pastel pink and baby blue, but as this week showed us, next year we should be looking towards chalkier toned peaches and mint greens.

MINT GREEN, , (Left to Right: Hardy Amies, Topman, Duchamp)

THE NEW BRIGHTS…, SS14 was, and will be, all about all about the primary colours – think paint box red, yellow and blue. But if this weeks runways were anything to go by then prepare yourself for the new brights. A combination of a strong orange-yellow and, our absolute favourite, aqua green, had us standing to attention at the likes of Topman and Burberry; overall a more mature palette will be on our want list next summer.

AQUAMARINE, , (Left to Right: Gieves & Hawkes, Burberry, Hackett)

TOTAL WHITE OUT, , If all the above seems like just too much to get your head around, then do not fear as this last trend might just be for you – the total summer white-out does it what it says on the tin. Simple, elegant and the epitome of a sartorially spot on summer., (Top – Left to Right: Joseph, Burberry, Dunhill. Bottom – Left to Right: Gieves & Hawkes, Casely Hayford, Richard James)
