The Savoy has never been one to rest on its laurels. For more than a century, it’s been the grande dame of London hotels – where white-jacketed waiters move with clockwork precision, cocktails are measured in moments rather than millilitres, and Afternoon Tea remains one of the city’s most cherished rituals. But even the grandest traditions deserve a modern twist.
Enter Twilight Tea at Gallery – a brand-new evening affair that reimagines the art of teatime for nightfall. In partnership with Nyetimber, the English sparkling wine house that’s giving Champagne a serious run for its money, The Savoy is turning the classic afternoon indulgence into something infinitely more chic – a twilight rendezvous where fine tea meets fine fizz.
From the 1st of October, Gallery – the hotel’s all-day dining spot tucked under a stunning stained-glass dome – sheds its daytime charm and takes on a soft, after-hours glow. From 7pm to 9pm, the space becomes a setting for post-work soirées and late-evening escapes. Think: delicate finger sandwiches, elegant bites, and the unmistakable sparkle of Nyetimber in coupe glasses that catch the light just so.
The menu is quietly decadent. There’s Scottish smoked salmon wrapped in brioche, lifted with lemon and dill cream and crowned with a spoonful of caviar. A British salt beef finger sandwich gets a bold swipe of pickle mustard mayo. Every bite nods to The Savoy’s proud British heritage while keeping things fresh and seasonal – modern indulgence with impeccable manners.
But the real talking point? The scones. Naturally. Except these aren’t the scones you know. They’re from Scoff – The Savoy’s playful scone shop that’s fast becoming a London cult favourite. Awarded Best Newcomer 2025 by La Liste, Scoff takes the humble scone and gives it a wink: flavours like Piña Colada or Tiramisu bring a hint of mischief to the plate. They’re fun, unpretentious, and the perfect partner for a glass of something sparkling.
That glass, of course, is Nyetimber. For 37 years, the pioneering English winemaker has set the benchmark for homegrown fizz, with 100% estate-grown grapes and craftsmanship that rivals the great Champagne houses. Guests can enjoy a chilled pour with their Twilight Tea or opt for a Berry Royale – a dangerously drinkable blend of Nyetimber, sloe gin, and minted berry soda.
To mark the collaboration, The Savoy’s Front Hall has been transformed with a floral installation inspired by Nyetimber’s vineyards across West Sussex, Hampshire and Kent – a subtle, sensory reminder that luxury, at its best, is rooted in nature and detail.
Available throughout October, Twilight Tea is priced at £49 per person and comes with a glass of Nyetimber. It’s an experience that feels both timeless and quietly subversive – the kind of thing The Savoy does best.
Because really, who says tea is just for the afternoon?
