For the last two decades, Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie watch fair, playground of the good and the great, has, with the incredible craftsmanship awed watch aficionados, even the most well-versed consumers among them. This year the fair took place 21-25 January. Heritage brands including Vacheron Constantin, Mont Blanc, Cartier, Baume and Mercier showcased contemporary and traditional watches with hands that seemingly floated on the dial as easily as Nureyev on stage. While this year’s numbers have yet to be released, last year saw the Swiss watch industry record its highest ever profits, with exports in excess of £13 billion.

It should then come as no surprise that this year’s SIHH international watch fair in Geneva was an enormous success. While some traditions seem to be falling by the wayside it is reassuring to know that the art of watchmaking has never been brighter. Beam us up!
