Style – Summer Trainers

Words: Violet

Now, don’t get us wrong. We at The Gentleman’s Journal are staunch supporters of The Proper Shoe. But sometimes, only a trainer will do. If you’re walking home from work through the park, shove a pair of trainers in your briefcase and after a hard day in brogues you’ll feel like you’re strolling on air. If you’ve got a game of squash planned, trainers are an out-and-out necessity. Or if you’re going for a country weekend, you simply can’t do without them.

That’s not to say that style should ever, ever be compromised. There can be few things more depressing in this world than a grubby old pair of trainers, laces frayed, rimmed with splattered mud, poking out of a gym bag. According to the experts, a pair of trainers should be changed every 6-12 months, depending on how often you wear them. Here’s our pick of the best summer trainers on the market.
