SIHH 2015 DAY 2 ROUND-UP

SIHH 2015 DAY 2 ROUND-UP

SIHH is well under way now and with Day 2 all wrapped up, things are getting serious. Each brand represented at the fair aim to outdo the last, and their respective presentations are proving to be as exciting as they are informing. Here are our highlights of SIHH 2015 Day 2…

PARMIGIANI FLEURIER

sihh - TGJ.05

Parmigiani have really impressed with this one. Honourable mentions go to its pair of meteorite-dialled Tondas, but their family relative the Tonda 1950 Squelette, is just exquisite. Skeletonised to within an inch of its life, this is a statement watch if there every was one, although its classic case shape and elegant alligator strap ensure it’s far from over the top.

A. LANGE & SOHNE

sihh - TGJ.02

The Saxon brand have unveiled perhaps the most impressive collection of new timepieces across the board at SIHH. Their new Saxonia range is of course noteworthy, as is the redesigned movement in the Lange 1, but the star of the show was the Zeitwerk Decimal Minute Repeater.

MONTBLANC

Another brand who have impressed with their ingenuity is Montblanc. A perennial favourite of ours, they have further solidified their place among the watchmaking elite, with their damn-near perfect Heritage collection. Inspired by the legendary explorer, Vasco da Gama, it is made up of a number of pieces, all of which perfectly encapsulate the direction the brand is taking. It was tough to choose, but our favourites have to be the Chronometrie Quantieme Annuel Vasco de Gama and the Spirit Orbis Terrarum world timer.

ROGER DUBUIS

sihh - TGJ.06

The skeleton trend is a big one, and it’s fair to say that Roger Dubuis are masters at slicing away excess metal, revealing some of the most beautiful yet sparse movements around. Every single Roger Dubuis watch is certified by the Poincon de Geneve, meaning their build quality and level of craftsmanship is unsurpassed. In short, their booths, like their watches, are some of the most eccentric on the planet and the Excaliber Spider Double Flying Tourbillon, unveiled today at SIHH is one of their finest efforts yet.
