The shooting season is now well underway, with partridges finding their wings, wildfowl fizzing across the estuaries, and grouse proving highly elusive on the upland moors. Pheasants will soon follow suit, the season opening on October 1.
With the chokehold of shorter days and colder airs taking over comes a paraphernalia of kit and tweed that otherwise stays dormant through the year. Such is the nature of shooting, the stalwart proceeding of those who take part regardless of any weather conditions, be it katabatic winds or shin-deep snow, good clothing is as essential as a roof to a house.
