Hoodies aside, Pangaia has got its tailoring locked in
Pangaia has unveiled its wool tailoring collection, which takes its inspiration for the pieces from La Dolce Vita and Italian craft.
Pangaia might be known best for its brightly-hued casualwear, consisting of hoodies, tracksuit bottoms and parka jackets, as well as its commitment to promoting a more sustainable future. But the brand, which was first introduced in late 2018, wants to remind you that while those things are its core values, it’s about so much more than that and that it can in fact, do it all.
A couple of years back, Pangaia toyed with the concept of suiting, introducing a suit made from fruit-derived fruitfibre. Today it has unveiled its fully-fledged tailoring collection, which takes the brand to elevated heights.

Made in Portugal from 85 per cent recycled wool and 15 per cent wool that is woven in Italy, the collection celebrates timeless silhouettes designed to transition across seasons. Using Italian craft and material innovation, the Pangaia tailoring collection offers a slice of La Dolce Vita, no matter where you are in the world, without skimping on the fabric innovation that has set Pangaia aside from its competitors.
The collection comprises four pieces, two for men and two for women. There’s a long-sleeve transitional shirt and trouser set for men, which is cast in mercurial grey, and the same for women, which comes in a camel colourway. Each piece of clothing has been designed to transcend seasons.

What’s more, everything in the new collection is crafted using Manteco’s MWool, which is an innovative material that transforms pre- and post-consumer wool garments into a new premium fabric. Because the fibres are already dyed, no additional dyes or chemicals are used, which means less impact on the environment in the dyeing process (typically this amounts to a huge amount of water and energy waste, as well as a significant contribution to carbon emissions).

Compared to virgin wool, MWool has been shown to deliver 99.2 per cent less climate impact, 99.9 per cent less water use and 93.3 per cent less energy consumption, according to the Manteco Life Cycle Assessment. That mercurial grey on the men’s pieces is created using Recype technology, which blends existing fibres to create new colourways.
