What does it mean to ‘be effortless’? Is it a state of mind, a state of being? Perhaps it’s a certain level of self-assurance, a comfort in one’s own skin to the extent that everything else – including fashion – is superfluous.
Such is the essence that Italian-born Pal Zileri – a brand that labels itself a ‘menswear lifestyle brand’ rather than a ‘fashion brand’ – has attempted to capture with its latest spring/summer 2025 collection.
Aptly entitled ‘Be Effortless’, the collection is about reconnecting with the essential self by refusing “the superstructures of fashion and the diktats of trends, achieving a new self-awareness where clothing becomes an expression of the personality of who wears them”.
These are clothes that are designed to showcase the best version of their wearer, to let you do the talking. Expect clean lines, soft silhouettes and a neutral colour palette of earthy tones, ceramic greys, and nature-inspired hues like moss green, ocean blue and sunset pink.
The pieces, which include lightweight drawstring trousers, loosely tailored seersucker blazers and single-breasted suits in natural stretch wool, are simple, elegant and unfussy – the versatile pillars of a forward-thinking menswear wardrobe.
In order to bring their SS25 collection to life, Pal Zileri enlisted British actor Freddy Drabble and American sound artist and DJ Reece Cox as models, shooting them against a sparse and majestic natural landscape that reflects the collection’s concept of essentiality.
