Old Harry – Merchants of the high sea
Words: Gentleman's Journal
Autumn is the time for knitwear – we all know this, so why not take the time to invest in not only the highest quality garments available, but buy from a brand so passionate about knitwear you won’t know how to contain yourself. Please welcome Old Harry.
Old Harry’s ethos is based entirely on British coastal heritage, after all, its name is taken directly from Old Harry, the rocky outcrop floating seamlessly in Poole’s Studland Bay, Dorset. It’s motto – ‘We are big believers in doing one thing and doing it right,’ and we, at The Gentleman’s Journal, couldn’t agree more. Knitwear is what they do, and what they do perfectly.

Originating from childhood forays spent on the British seaside, with many happy days wrapped up warm in old vintage jumpers, Old Harry is based on passion, fond memories and joyous quality. As Old Harry say, “Whether swimming in the chilly sea or walking on the blustery cliff tops a good quality jumper was a must have.”

Available in cream, navy, black, grey and dark grey, the first collection of unisex jumpers from the brand come in six different sizes, with the five-gauge fisherman’s knit adding to the simple, seaside-inspired feel. Attention to detail has been given to each element of the design, including the coordinates of Old Harry’s namesake – the legendary pirate of Poole, Harry Paye – featured on the nape of the sweater.

It’s not too often that you find a brand that produce one product, and one product alone. For autumn 2015, Old Harry has created a 100% cotton, lightweight, knit of unparalleled quality. We particularly love this navy crewneck.
