Words: Gentleman's Journal
Perfect for the gentleman who likes to stand out from the crowd while at sea, the new 70HT series from Turkish yacht builder Numarine proves that bigger isn’t always better. At just under 22 metres this striking high-performance motor yacht has been designed and built with absolute precision, earning it a place on the shortlist for ‘Power Yacht up to 25 metres’ at this month’s 2015 International Yacht and Aviation Awards.

The sporty 70 HT model follows the success of the 78HT but this time sees the input of world-renowned naval architect Tony Castro who collaborated with industry leading designer Can Yalmao on the project. These two visionaries have expertly balanced form with function while achieving levels of comfort associated with much bigger yachts. The first yacht in the range was launched last year and was immediately recognised by the industry for its aggressive, dynamic lines which further demonstrate the forward-thinking style of the relatively young shipyard.

Light and space on board formed the core of the design process, achieved by the installation of a large one-piece windshield, over-size saloon side windows along with large side glass in the master cabin that together with the retractable roof draw daylight into the interior. This also highlights the quality of the interior finishes which are exceptional, contrasting with the masculine exterior to create living areas that are stylish and elegant.

All of the final touches can be tailored to each owner’s tastes, even down to the colour of the hull and the cabin arrangement which includes either a three or four cabin layout to sleep up to six or eight guests respectively. A number of large sun-pad areas on deck mean you can choose your view when enjoying some sunbathing and a comfortable outdoor ‘lounge’ space is a great spot for sundowners. The cutting-edge finishes are not limited to the aesthetics however and super-lightweight construction along with twin MAN 1200 motors and vacuum infusion akin to F1 standard technology enable speeds of up to 34 knots.

You’ll need something in the region of around £2 million to get your hands on your own 70HT, though Numarine’s large in-house workforce in Istanbul makes this a very competitive pricing structure compared to other European yacht builders.
