Angling for something unique? Try the bespoke 'Fly Fishing' special edition

With its six-litre, twin turbocharged engine and a 0-60 mph time of under five seconds, the £160,000 Bentley Bentayga was already quite the catch. But Mulliner, the manufacturer’s in-house bespoke coach building division, have taken the angling analogy one step further in their creation of a new special edition: the Bentayga ‘Fly Fishing’.

Targeted at those who enjoy their sports relaxing and their cars luxurious, this built-to-order special edition SUV costs a further £80,000 and boasts a hand-crafted fly fishing set installed in the boot. Four top-of-the-line rods sit in leather-trimmed tubes underneath the parcel shelf, and matching bags contain fly fishing landing nets.

In the centre of the boot, three saddle-leather-trimmed storage units form the centrepiece of this fisherman’s fantasy. The first is a waterproof wader stowage trunk, the second an all-important refreshment case (with fine-china tableware and flask) and the third a ‘master tackle station’.

This final station holds a series of burr walnut-veneered drawers, containing such tools as a fly-tying vice, and essentials including cotton, hooks, feathers and reel cases. And, to assuage any concerns of damp damage or unpleasant smells, the boot floor has been waterproofed and a built-in dehumidifier ensures that the diamond-quilted leather interior remains dry.

But although the ‘Fly Fishing’ was developed after Bentley identified the pastime as a key interest of Bentayga owners, the storage units can be removed to open up boot space for any non-fishing trips. So, if you’re hooked on the famously therapeutic pursuit of angling, perhaps it’s time to reel in Bentley’s latest.
