The Met Gala 2025 dress code is "Tailored to you", nodding to the Costume Institute's theme for the year of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”.
It is the first Met Gala theme in over 20 years to focus on menswear and it was inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
The stars in attendance, from Colman Domingo to Lewis Hamilton (both of whom were co-chairs), played with the dress code in their own way.
See below our favourite looks from the night...
Co-chair Lewis Hamilton traded in the racing gloves for a look that nodded to the Black Panthers. He wore a custom fit from Wales Bonner (complemented by Briony Raymond jewellery), which was completed by a beret - historically a symbol of revolution, while the whole look nodded to the Black portraiture and conceptualism of Colman DomingoBarkley L. Hendricks.
Dressed in custom Valentino, Domingo turned up in a blue regal fit, which he said in interviews was a nod to André Leon Talley, as well as Beau Brummell, the original 18th century Dandy. But minutes later he threw off the cape to reveal a polka dot and striped suit that was all bells, whistles and flowers.
As the creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton, this was Pharrell's night. And he wore a pearl-embellished LV jacket and Tiffany & Co jewels that oozed high glamour.
Lakeith Stanfield wore a look from Ferragamo and British designer Maximilian Davis that was inspired by the Black dandy and the history of clothing as a means of redefining identity
British designer Charlie Casely-Hayford served a unique spin on the suit, which was elongated at the back in a tails-like way.
The American rapper added some shine to the blue carpet.
Bad Bunny wore Prada and understood the assignment.
Another co-chair of the night, former Gentleman's Journal cover star ASAP Rocky stole the show.
Callum Turner made his red carpet debut with Dua Lipa in Louis Vuitton.
Yes chef!
Ncuti Gatwa opted to wear Savile Row stalwart Ozwald Boateng, donning a suit that reflected the brand's Dandy aesthetic.
Nick Jonas opted for southeast Londoner Bianca Saunders for another outing on the steps of the Met.
Adrien Brody ditched the shirt and tie.
Britain's favourite grime artist played into the theme by doing undone black tie in Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann.
This isn't Leon Bridges' first time at the Met Gala and that's why he aced the dress code in Nicholas Daley.
Senegalese-Italian Tiktok star Khaby Lame channelled old age elegance, with a look that nodded to the timelessness of the Dandy.
The Wicked actor channeled his inner Wizard of Oz in Wales Bonner and Manolo Blahnik.
The Stranger Things actor stuck to the theme in Dior.
