Words: Holly Macnaghten
HARRYS OF LONDON, , WHAT: HARRYS OF LONDON PRESENTATION, WHERE: The Ivy, WHO: Creative Director Kevin Martel and CEO Steven Newey, bloggers The Chic Geek and Eleanor Calder & Max Hurd from The Trend Pear., WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: We drank shots of green juice, coffee and champagne, nibbled on smoked salmon blinis, mini bacon sandwiches and fresh fruit whilst perusing the 3 sections of footwear and (new to the brand) luggage. Divided into weekend/sportswear, office wear and evening wear the brand’s statement technical shoes sat alongside newer, more fashion forward pieces., STAND OUT PIECES: Black shearling trainers and fur lined leather boots and 2 stunning leather trolley suitcases won our vote for the new season.

TOPMAN, , WHAT: TOPMAN CATWALK SHOW, WHERE: Topman Show Space, WHO: Nick Jonas, Douglas Booth, Dougie Poynter, Oliver Cheshire, Robert Konjic, Dermot O’Leary, David Gandy, Hu Bing, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: As always, Topman pulled no punches. Loud pumping music came pulsating through the speakers as racks of spot-lights raised, twisted and moved throughout as the models walked the runway in 70s inspired suits and coats. Colour palettes ranged from greys to blues and browns. Think wide lapels, lazer printed velvet and flower shirts., STAND OUT PIECES: It was near impossible to choose a favourite from the plethora of incredible jackets on show, but after much discussion, we have to hand it to the two chevron striped jackets, a long over coat and shorted bomber in grey and camel.

BARBOUR

WHAT: BARBOUR PRESENTATION, WHERE: Swiss Church, 79 Endell Street, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Barbour upped their game this year by showing the world their palette of Autumnal colours, fit for a gentleman. Season after season, Barbour are reimagining their style and are continuing to stay at the forefront of casual (but stylish) menswear. Colours screamed of autumn, with burgundy, blues, greys and greens as a reoccurring theme and shapes were boxy and masculine with a sleek edge., STAND OUT PIECES: Sweatshirts were a firm favourite, particularly in wearable grey and navy, but the outerwear has to win – especially the mid-thigh length update on the classic Barbour jacket.
1205

WHAT: 1205 CATWALK SHOW, WHERE: Royal Institute of British Architects, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: 1205 was all about the young, modern gentleman. The show consisted of masculine, tailored pieces all with an edge – whether it be a hem rolled up to just above the ankle or a pair of slick, smart trainers worn with a modern suit. The outwear was undoubtedly the star of the show, with boxy silhouettes and modern updates on classic pieces such as the blazer and the bomber. The whole show had a monotone palette, focussing on muted blues, greens, greys and blacks., STAND OUT PIECES: Soft, tailored overcoats and cropped jackets had the be the winners, but relaxed and masculine tailored trousers definitely came a close second., Images from Design Fever.
