LC: M AW15 round-up: day 4

As quickly as it came around, it was over again for another season. We bid farewell to the funfair that consumes the men’s fashion industry with a few of our favourites as day 4 of the LC: M brought things to a close…

MONOLO BLAHNIK, , Entering into the otherworldly Sir John Soane’s Museum for the Manolo Blahnik presentation was quite unlike anything we’ve experienced before. Seeing immaculately made shoes in leather and suede sitting alongside greek sculptures and famous oil paintings was quite the way to start the final day. Personal highlights included an eye-catching pair of red suede chelsea boots and a pair of luxurious two-tone monk straps in deep navy.

BURBERRY, , Everyone knows that Burberry is the show to be at during men’s collections, and this year was no exception. Christopher Bailey labeled this collection as Classically Bohemian, and that it was. We saw shearling coats in blues and green, elegantly draped ponchos and fringed scarves over suits and floral shirts. As the glitter poured down on the finale and Claire Maguire sang ‘House of the Rising Sun’, the true “decorative, but free” feel of the collection could really be enjoyed.

TOM FORD, , Entering into our afternoon appointment at Tom Ford we were shocked to see that the usually full show room was laid completely bare, bar a huge photographic set-up on one side. For the first time we were given the privilege of taking photographs and in true Tom Ford style, he wanted to make sure they were shot well. As expected, every look was impeccably styled – taking us through a rapid fire selection of outerwear with suiting, sumptuous shearling bombers with jeans, micro check overcoats and slim-fit suiting. The final evening wear looks came in 2 groups, the first worn with no socks and roll-neck jumpers giving a very clean and modern feel. The second group was more formal, with 60’s inspired monochrome in printed velvet. Of course we wanted every look and couldn’t simply pick a favourite, although any one of those shearling flying jackets wouldn’t go amiss!

To wrap up the presentations at this seasons London Collections: Men, it was to Apsley House, Number One London to enjoy Chivas deluxe blended Scotch whisky and Savile Row coming together to present The English Gentleman. Impeccably dressed models in shirts, suits, hats and shoes from the Savile Row bespoke tailors and the gentlemen’s houses of St. James’s, posed and milled about the venue. Whilst sipping delicious Chivas cocktails we wandered the grand rooms of Apsley House admiring all that our fair city had to offer us – a wonderful reminder of the core values that make London the men’s fashion capital of the world.
