LC: M AW15 Round-Up: Day 1
Words: Holly Macnaghten
At last! The day has come that we immerse ourselves into the shows, presentations and of course the parties that make up one of the busiest times of the year for men’s fashion in London. Yes, that’s right gentlemen, LC: M is back again – this time around we’re getting a first hand look at the AW15 collections. Read on for the most recent news of LC: M day one…
TOPMAN DESIGN

Kicking off the proceedings was the much anticipated TOPMAN show held at The Old Sorting Office. In true TOPMAN style the venue and it’s eager on-lookers were taken from sheer darkness into a whir of pulsating bass-heavy music as strobe lights illuminated the room for the entrance of the first model down the runway. A flurry of earth-toned yellow and brown 70s style jackets over black trousers and roll-necks was swiftly followed by navy and grey pinstriped suits (in a looser cut to that we have seen in the past), but it was the vast shearling jackets that really stole the show. With a swift change in music came an altered feel to the collection as we were taken to the wild-west. Rodeo-style, badge emblazoned jackets in suede and leather were shown, whilst a black suede tasselled jacket worn with suit trousers and sneakers was a particular stand out look. With a brief interlude of less than desirable double denim and shiny bomber jackets (we’ll pretend we didn’t see those!), the show finished with a selection of garishly brilliant tartan suits beneath those much admired shearling jackets. Long live the 70s!
AQUASCUTUM

Classic British tailoring was infused with subtle twists at Aquascutum’s AW15 presentation at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. A muted colour palette of blues, greys and browns worked perfectly in harmony but we particularly enjoyed the tailored casualwear. Lightly flecked blue trousers were paired with lightweight leather bomber jackets and sharp black Chelsea boots for a modern take on office appropriate attire.
PRIVATE WHITE V.C

Another all-English brand that shined on Day 1 was Private White V.C who showcased their wares for the first time on such a large scale. Every PW V.C garment is designed and handmade in their Manchester factory and the attention to detail showed at their debut LC: M presentation.

Barbour never fail to impress with their classic heritage pieces and this year’s presentation was no exception. They may be famed for their waxed jackets, but Barbour showed their versatility here, with tweed jackets, knitted wool hats and outstanding layering – we particularly loved the wool flannel shirts.
