For its latest spring/summer campaign, Lanieri, the Milanese digital tailor that proffers 100-per-cent-Italian made-to-measure menswear, has taken to Sicily, inspired by the island’s rich and fertile terrain; intense, seductive scents; and the dusty, warm hues that define its landscape.
With the season of oversized trench coats, cashmere scarves, and tweed formalwear now firmly squared away for the months ahead, Lanieri’s new ‘Suited To Living’ collection centres itself around elegant, deconstructed pieces in lightweight fabrics, not only aimed to be utilised in myriad occasions and settings this summer, but to also maximise comfort and ease without losing sight of style or sacrificing finesse.
The range runs the gamut from formalwear to off-duty pieces, all of which, like the entire Lanieri range, is created from unique patterns, produced using only fabrics from the finest Italian suppliers, and customisable with just a few clicks. A timeless blue suit, for example, comes in a linen-wool blend, an ideal ensemble that can be dressed up with a silk pocket square with a red hem or dressed down with white twill-cotton chinos – both also by Lanieri – and be taken to business meetings on the coast, or evening cicchetti crawls by the Venetian lagoon.
Other formal pieces, such as shirts with fine-line patterns and ties in butter-soft silk, also bring to mind images of the Riviera and the spirit of Italy’s elegant sprezzatura style.
On the more casual end of the line, you will see long-sleeve polo knits in summer-friendly shades of beige and white; jogger-chinos whose traveller’s creases keep things on the right side of relaxed; and overshirts in a boxy cut, ideal for throwing on when the cooling breeze from the Adriatic, the Ionian, or the Tyrrhenian kicks in. So while the Italian winter calls to mind double-breasted coats in herringbone, or ankle-high boots constructed from fine leathers, Lanieri’s latest offering speaks of the peninsula’s more relaxed, easygoing sartorial style.
Moreover, the entire collection draws upon luxury sustainable fabrics and natural fibres, and even though the stretch weaved into the items allows for a freedom of movement – ideal for balmier, unforgiving climes – such pieces still manage to retain their shape after multiple wears.
