Interior – Linley Raises the Bar
Words: Gentleman's Journal
Every man secretly hankers for a pièce de resistance drinks cabinet, the sort that challenges the plush designs seen in Bond films. Picture yourself. Looking pretty suave right? Now, luxury British brand Linley has created just the ticket for you to make this fantasy a very real reality.
The Tectonic Bar, isn’t an ordinary drinks cabinet, oh no, the Tectonic Bar – as it is so boldly named – is the latest piece to be unveiled by Linley ahead of its debut at the prestigious Masterpiece London fair this June.
It’s takes little to explain why we have our eyes fixed on this one.
Exquisitely crafted in ebonised walnut with white gold leaf and nickel accents, the Tectonic Bar pairs superlative quality with innovative design to create a collector’s piece that supersedes fine craftsmanship. Every surface, drawer and detail is wholly unique. Best of all, it is crafted from timbers grown on British soil
Why the dramatic name? According to Linley, “the walnut skin of the Bar appears to split as if tectonic plates beneath the Earth have broken it apart to reveal the glowing metallic core within. Cracks in the surface revealing metallic rivets, form the outlines of the continents of the World in a conceptual and abstract manner.” In our minds, it all adds to the grandeur of the piece.
Of course, Bond wouldn’t settle for just any ordinary bar, and neither should you, which is why, in true Linley style, the bar has been built to incorporate a number of hidden secrets inside. Buried deep in its depths are a cigar humidor, which literally rises up, a fridge and numerous secret compartments to store whiskeys, liqueurs and vintage champagne. Not enough you say? We forgot to mention the secret button that is employed to unlock the Bar cabinet enabling the doors to open, setting a mechanism in motion to rotate the Bar columns, revealing specialist Linley cocktail accessories along with everything you need to create the perfect Martini for any occasion.
