Paul Edmonds TGJ.01

When The Gentleman’s Journal feels in need of a little bit of pampering and relaxation, there’s one place we head to before all others: Paul Edmonds in Knightsbridge. A serene space full of dark wood and beautiful girls, it’s a zen paradise in the guise of a traditional English home. This is our one-pit-stop for everything: haircuts, manicures, even Indian head massages. Hell, you can pick up a delicious scented candle here as a gift for your mum at the same time as getting your chest waxed (if you’re so inclined).

Paul and his team are experts, which may be why John Hamm and Dominic West are frequent customers (along with Christina Hendricks and Penelope Cruz… imagine seeing one of them waltz by as you were getting your locks washed!). The lovely Vanessa Essack, artistic director of the salon, gave us the best trim we’ve ever had, all the while regaling us with hilarious anecdotes from her recent trips to the Seychelles. It was all we could do to tear ourselves away from the beckoning TV screens in the manicure area, but with our hair freshly trimmed it was time to hit the town. Luckily, Paul Edmonds had just the thing to set us up for the night – a green juice that delivered a bolt of energy that was like a coffee without the jitters. A place that provides all you need for a night out? That’s our kind of salon.
