Editor's Picks: De'Longhi coffee machine, Dior haircare, Sunspel jacket and Chopard watch
The best gear in the world right now, from spring-summer footwear to timeless frames.
- Words: Dan Scothern
Each week we present to you some of the best products on the planet. Whether it's sailing knits or premium PJs, these are the items that you need to shake up your lifestyle for the better...
Crockett & Jones - Sorrento Loafer
Produced on Last 391; Crockett & Jones' shortest base, the Sorrento Loafer is a lesson in warm weather craftsmanship and style. Though we're a few weeks out from sockless territory, a March purchase of these casual slip-ons would ensure fully broken-in comfort for when milder climes arise, allowing the Sorrentos to become a neat seasonal staple. Unstructured and crafted with flexi-welts and lightweight ribbing, these suede loafers (available in Desert, Pistachio and Pastel Blue) are a must for pre-summer stepping.
David Gandy Wellwear - Premium Pyjama Pant
There is a lot of room in our bedroom drawers for quality sleepwear. Wardrobe items that are (hopefully) never seen outside of the house are often overlooked, so we take great pride in elevating a men's essential that only a select (and lucky) few get to see. Conveniently for us, the Premium Pyjama Pant from David Gandy Wellwear is more than just a stylish addition to the end-of-day ensemble and has been produced with Wellwear Care aloe vera moisturising and anti-inflammatory treatment, to care for your skin as you snooze.
De'Longhi - The World's Smallest Coffee Shop
Perhaps it's the varied frequency of the morning commute to the office, but recent stats report that up to 80 per cent of coffee is now enjoyed at home. Although 72 per cent of java sippers believe they must still visit a professional shop to source the 'perfect' cup. With this in mind, De'Longhi has teamed up with model maker Simon Weisse (famous for on-set creations in The Grand Budapest Hotel and Asteroid City) to build the World's Smallest Coffee Shop. Aligned with Milan Design Week in April, Weisse has crafted five intricate facades inspired by coffee spots in Paris, Tokyo, Milan, Copenhagen and Berlin mounted onto the brand's bean-to-cup machines, to prove that one needn't leave the house for the cafe experience or that blissful mug of joe.
Chopard - Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph
Bringing together the worlds of fine watchmaking and classic racing, the Mille Miglia Chronograph has been a standout piece in Chopard's stellar lineup since its launch in 1988. Limited to 100 pieces, this stunning 40.5mm, British Racing Green iteration continues this model's automotive legacy with knurled pushers (resembling brake pedals), a white minute track and tachymeter scale, a red-tipped chronograph seconds hand (a nod to the Mille Miglia colours) and tyre-tread pattern rubber strap.
Sunspel - Paul Weller Monkey Jacket
If, in this modern world, you march in step to the sartorial beat, surrender to the Paul Weller collection from Sunspel. The third collaboration between the Jam frontman and the renowned British outfitter, this mod-inspired collection has been crafted with stylish versatility to suit those in the city, as well as those adopting Weller's basement-club, outside the norm ethos. For those going underground (and we're not talking down in the tube station at midnight), our pick is the lightweight Italian cotton and nylon Monkey Jacket. Produced in the brand's Long Eaton factory, and sporting the Sun and Clouds motif from the 1940s, it's a firm GJ favourite.
Paul John - Pedro Ximénez Indian Single Malt
A far cry from Speyside, Paul John has been crafting exceptional whiskies out of Goa, India, for over 20 years. Using native ingredients with a focus on bold and robust flavours, the brand soon became a hit with dram lovers and awarding bodies alike, earning the coveted accolade of 'Asia's most-awarded Indian single malt whisky brand'. Though its catalogue is universally strong, the Pedro Ximénez Indian Single Malt is our standout, treating drinkers to fig, apricot and a touch of banana on the nose, barley, butterscotch and dry fruits on the palate, before transporting us away with a long chocolate fudge and orange peel finish.
Tracksmith - Chiltern Vest
Who says that gilets are only for the Square Mile and Wall Street? We're all mature enough now to acknowledge that for the transitional season, there are few better garments. And while the Chiltern Vest from Tracksmith wasn't designed for the corporate arena (although it'll likely pair well with chinos and loafers), it's the perfect lightweight warmup top for the early spring jaunts. Built with English weather in mind, this water-repellent, breathable piece loves to see drizzle coming whilst having also been constructed for maximum mobility for premium running comfort.
Tom Ford from MR PORTER - Smith Square-Frame Tortoiseshell Acetate Sunglasses
Those familiar with Tom Ford's curated list of '15 things every man should have' will know that as well as a well-cut dark suit, a sense of humour and tweezers, it's essential to find the perfect sunglasses. We acknowledge it's a trial and error process (not everyone can rock aviators like Maverick) but it's a journey we must all embark upon. While we might not suggest starting out with a pair of the designer's Smith Square-Frame Tortoiseshell Acetate Sunglasses, if you know that a classic frame is your style, this is the pair you should strive for. Made from Italian polished acetate with inlaid T-shaped hardware at the temples, these are a timeless design for lifelong style.
Henri Lloyd - Golant Quarter Zip Ribbed Knit
It may be wishful thinking, but as we prepare to demote the chunkier jackets from the coat stand, it's our pullovers and second layers that will be carrying the brunt of the heat-retaining load. Thankfully, Henri Lloyd has been crafting fine clothing to best the weather since 1963, and we see this strong sailing pedigree and commitment to practical and stylish pieces in its Golant Quarter Zip Ribbed Knit. Built from responsibly sourced 5-gauge organic cotton with classic nautical-inspired finishing, it's a hardy throw-on for the changeable months ahead.
Dior - Sauvage Hair Serum
Formulated to add texture, hydrate and add scent in a single step, the newly introduced Sauvage Hair Serum from Dior has harnessed the power of cacti for nourished and invigorated hair. This high-performance serum blends the nourishing benefits of oil from cactus extract with the hydrating qualities of cactus pulp, sourced from Dior's own Cactus Garden in rural Lanzarote. Designed to quickly permeate the hair, without adding extra weight, the Sauvage Hair Serum is an easy addition to the barnet routine.
