- Words: Dan Scothern
Each week we present to you some of the best products on the planet. Whether it's climate-conscious knits or artisanal spirits, these are the items that you need to shake up your lifestyle for the better...
Derek Rose - The Basel Lounge Trousers
Though the Easter sun will have seen a few emerging from the winter cocoons, this doesn't mean that the hibernation wardrobes should be neglected. The home is where we like to be the most comfortable, and when we're searching for comfort, we're searching for Derek Rose. Shaped from Basel micro modal stretch, these lightweight and breathable trousers are the gold-standard when it comes to premium loungewear. Natural temperature-regulating fibres heat and cool with the body, and the fresh vanilla colourway brings lighter tones to the legwear rotation.
MOSCOT - UTZ Sun
You can never have too many pairs of sunglasses. Even if you aren't prone to misplacing your shades, it doesn't hurt to have the option for eyewear versatility. As much as we're fond of an acetate frame, there's a time and a place for a sleek metal alternative, and that's when we reach for the UTZ Sun from MOSCOT. Steeped in New York heritage, this polished model (designed and prototyped by 5th generation, Zack Moscot) is a minimalist sunny day essential, with striped metal skiving on the frame front and temple offering additional character and enviable NYC charm.
Bang & Olufsen - Beolab 90 Monarch Edition
One of the final two editions of the Danish audio brand's acclaimed Atelier centenary series, Bang & Olufsen's Beolab 90 Monarch Edition fuses textural sophistication and contemporary furniture design to transform its flagship speaker into a flowing sculpture and a visual embodiment of the brand's craftsmanship and innovation. Constructed from angled and curved rosewood, six wooden knots connect the lamellas with a solid top ring housing the main speaker. Semi-transparent fabric panels contrast the smooth wood, offering listeners brief glimpses of the powerful acoustic drivers behind.
MR MARVIS - The Terry Sweater Antarctics
Made from ultra-soft terry jersey, The Terry Sweater Antarctics from Dutch menswear aficionados, MR MARVIS, takes considered spring dressing to a new level. Raglan sleeves and the V-insert round neckline gives this piece classic athletic appeal, whilst its soft and lightweight towelling finish (in cool, light grey blue) see it slot into a vast range of upcoming warm-weather ensembles.
HOKA - Mach 7
If the upcoming London Marathon is likely to inspire a pre-summer cardio push, you'll need the correct footwear. The talented team at HOKA thankfully know a thing or two in that department, and the Mach 7s could be the shoe to guide you towards your next PB. Light-on-the-feet cushioning and high-energy foam create a snappy, responsive step, while a creel jacquard upper adds breathability, comfort, and a streamlined aesthetic that will have passers-by admiring more than just your pace.
Brioni - Cashmere Bomber Jacket
Primed for a late-stage surprise cold snap, this leather and shearling-trimmed Cashmere Bomber Jacket from the artisans at Brioni is an unmatched example of exceptionally crafted outwear. With 100 per cent cashmere meeting 100 per cent lamb shearling, this elevated take on the military-inspired style is wardrobe must-have for the seasonally cautious, temperature conscious gent.
Mezcal Reina - Espadín/Tobasiche Ensamble
Distilled in San Pablo Villa de Mitla in Southern Mexico, the Espadín/Tobasiche Ensamble from the female-founded Mezcal Reina brings an approachable yet complex player to the Mezcal arena. Made from Angustifolia agave (which is cooked in earthen pits, before being milled by horse on a stone mill, and double distilled in copper stills) this artisanal drop offers green, herbal notes with subtle minerality, making it ideal for gentle sipping, or lively cocktails.
Sheep Inc. - The Everyday Zip Through Jumper
Built from 100 per cent signature long staple 19.5µ merino wool, The Everyday Zip Through Jumper from the curators of coziness at Sheep Inc. is an eco-conscious essential for when mild days turn to chilly evenings. Fashioned using fully traceable fibre from the brand's New Zealand partner farms, this piece boasts moisture-wicking and anti-odour merino to eliminate the need for frequent washing, whilst insulating air pockets from its natural crimp structure allow for optimum temperature adaptability.
OMEGA - Speedmaster X-33
We imagine that the list for watches that might accompany the Artemis II crew on the first crewed lunar voyage in over 50 years was comically short. Not even really a list, but rather just a piece of paper with OMEGA written on it. And understandably so; the fabled Swiss watchmaker has been aboard every manned lunar mission since 1969, so it's only fitting that Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen don the brand for this recent excursion. Though the Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional was the historic model of choice, the Artemis II crew opted for the Speedmaster X-33; a hardy 42.25mm titanium-cased piece, to boldly take where very few have gone before.
Fera - Zephyr Jacket Navy
As days grow longer, outfit functionality comes into consideration like never before. Sunglasses, power-banks, headphones and lighters all need to go somewhere, and it's in those essential-laden moments that we're thankful for FERA's Zephyr Jacket. Unlined and unassuming, this chore jacket-inspired piece boasts contrast stitching on its dual front pockets in addition to gun metal snap closures, and a handy left breast sunglasses loop. Stylish and practical, we understand why the Red Hot Chili Peppers wrote a song about it (probably).
R.M. Williams - Craftsman Boot
There are few names as respected in the Chelsea Boot game as R.M.Williams. The historic Australian bootmaker has been crafting outstanding footwear since 1932, with a keen focus on utility and durability, and has recently set up shop at 108 Jermyn Street to further grow its strong British footprint. While the brand's range spans an impressive 73 styles, it's the deservedly famed Craftsman Boot that remains our consistent pick. Hand-made in Adelaide from a single piece of leather (and passing through the hands of 88 skilled craftsmen before reaching the shelves) these are an unquestionable heirloom piece with timeless appeal.
CDLP - Iron Sage Swim Shorts
Much like the sunglasses above, there is little reason why you should be foregoing choice and versatility in the swim short department. Different destinations prompt diverse styles, while varied activities necessitate various fits, and with a wide range of options available, the sartorial globe-trotter should never find themselves caught short (sorry). Our current pick is this iron sage iteration from CDLP; constructed from parachute nylon, quick drying and comfortable, they're likely to be a semi-permanent resident of our holdalls this spring and summer.
