Diary – Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup

Diary – Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup

Words: Violet

The Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup Polo Final is always a stylish event but this year it was lovelier than ever thanks to a 1950s theme. There were swing dancers and a jukebox stuffed full of rock and roll classics. Vintage-style beauties Alice Eve and Daisy Lowe looked even more gorgeously classic than usual. Meanwhile Charlotte Dellal collaborated with Veuve Clicquot to create a ‘lovely bubbly’ range of her signature cheeky heels, inspired by the French champagne house. The designer herself wore a pair of tottering heels despite being heavily pregnant. Otis Ferry and Tom Hooper enjoyed being surrounded by summery beauties shading themselves underneath pink parasols. Food was Mediterranean-inspired with minted quinoa, burrata, lamb rump and passion fruit panna cotta taking pride of place. As for the polo? Zacara beat Dubai, but by then everyone was so busy sipping Veuve Clicquot rose from vintage floral teacups that any outcome would have seemed delightful.
