Campaign Of The Week: Aquascutum SS15
Words: Alex Woodhall
Aquascutum are one of the great British tailoring brands. With a history now extending over 150 years, they were founded in 1851, the label epitomises a style of a sophisticated and luxurious sort; their SS15 campaign is naturally no different.
Starring British models, Patrick O’Donnell, Roger Frampton and the stunning Eliza Cummings, the series was shot by renowned fashion photographer Alasdair McLellan.

Sidestepping the brand’s tailoring heritage somewhat, the campaign is heavily focused on the more casual elements of the wardrobe. Featuring highly luxurious casual jackets prominently, there’s an inherent tactile element with suede and leather takes stealing the show.
The brand’s signature trench also makes an appearance, hardly a surprise considering their history with the style. Aquascutum’s founder John Emary was responsible for pioneering the first waterproof wool fabric after all, supplying First World War officers with trench coats cut from his innovation in 1914; the company’s name translates from Latin to ‘water shield’.

This coming season’s trench coats capture the luxurious essence Aquascutum is so well known and revered for. They prioritise neither form nor function, executing both with elegant aplomb. The functional technical fabrics have a luxury feel, as you’d expect, making them a refined essential for the spring and beyond.

The colour palette is befittingly reflective of the season it represents. Deep blues and navys are balanced with sumptuous whites and a contrasting touch of brown. In short, we can’t wait to get our hands on all of it.
