Brand Watch – Noble Macmillan

What is luxury? There’s a common misconception that the word luxury usually means it’s expensive. This is most probably due to companies being greedy with their profit margins, hence the continuous record results coming from the big luxury conglomerates. We, the consumers are also partly to blame, as we’re prepared to pay ridiculous prices for these so called ‘luxury goods’.

Occasionally you will come across those rare brands that offer a product that at first glance you would dare to say is cheap, however on further inspection what you will find is great value.

One such company is Noble Macmillan. This Kensington based brand may not be as old as it’s rivals, but don’t let this put you off, as they have both heritage and quality.

Established in 1980 by Tom Dodd-Noble and Adam Macmillan, who were both keen car racers at the time, the idea came about when Tom Dodd-Noble visited a company they would now consider a rival, and was astonished by the prices they were charging.

Starting out with simple leather stitched photo frames, the company soon grew and expanded into photo albums, diaries and visitor books to name a few.

Today they offer the same outstanding quality, but at a fraction of the price. As we say at The Gentleman’s Journal, this is a brand for those in the know. Craftsmanship, heritage, style and good value. Now that’s luxury.
