2024 was a big year for men's fashion. Amidst the turning tables of the big designers, from Hedi Slimane handing his notice in at Celine to Matthieu Blazy leaving Bottega Veneta, men across the world were really tapping into their style.
To say that 2024 has been one of the most fashionable years yet, wouldn't be wrong. We've had mighty premieres for the biggest movies (Gladiator II, Wicked, Queer, Babygirl and Dune: Part Two among them), each of which brought out very famous men in very nice outfits.
A new wave of Hollywood's finest, such as Paul Mescal, Colman Domingo, Austin Butler, Harris Dickinson and Cooper Koch, have all been nailing their red carpet fits. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton cemented himself (again) as the best-dressed sportsman in the world.
Below is a rundown of the best-dressed men of 2024. Take note.
The former Bond actor had a style reckoning. Suits were out and Loewe gear was in. He landed a campaign for the Spanish brand, and divided men with his new floppy hair, amber sunnies and slouchy suits. Us? We're into them.
Queer star Drew Starkey is the New Kid On The Block, and not just because he's in one of the biggest films of the year. His style off the big screen is pretty immaculate, with him favouring custom Loewe suits and Eighties-inspired power suiting from Ralph Lauren.
Brosnan went viral this year after he attended Wimbledon, mainly because he looked like he was channelling James Bond once again. Slick suit (Ralph Lauren, obviously), killer shades and an unrivalled quaft of hair.
Since the Eighties Lenny's been getting it right. He proved that he's still got it as he turned 60 years old, and he rocked a selection of Saint Laurent looks on the red carpet, while on stage he slipped into his signature leather waistcoats and slacks.
Known best for his role in Yesterday, it was at the Loewe show that we took notice, where he sat among the likes of Anthony Boyle and Jack Lowden. Patel has carefully curated a wardrobe that is stylish (Zegna and Paul Smith suiting), but playful, with the odd Judy Blame pin here and there.
Pedro Pascal lands a spot on this list purely for his ability to pull of a sling with such panache.
Nicholas Alexander Chavez has got Prince Charming good looks, floppy hair and a wardrobe of smash hit after smash hit, from Giuliva Heritage blazers paired with Levi's jeans to Versace suits.
The Gladiator II star proved that he's a man of many talents this year, sporting everything from über short rugby shorts to Simone Rocha suits and Gucci pyjama-esque cut-offs.
Colman Domingo smashed it this year. There was his Met Gala, where he was co-chair and wore American designer Willy Chavarria. There was his Gothams fit, which was courtesy of Burberry. The list goes on...
Austin Butler is the Hollywood star we were waiting for. He's got the acting down, and he loves getting suited up for the red carpet (Celine, Saint Laurent and Prada are his go-to brands), which sets him good stead to face his next role as the rebooted, tailoring-mad American Psycho.
The Boys In The Boat actor and 2024 Gentleman's Journal digital cover star Callum Turner has a knack for looking good without trying very hard. His suits (Burberry usually) always fit like a glove, while no guy looks better in a leather jacket right now.
Rocky has always been stylish, sure, but this year he upped his game. So much so that he scooped a Fashion Award in December, with Rihanna on hand to clap for him, and he fronted a Bottega Veneta campaign.
Alongside heading up his own brand Mains, Skepta dropped a capsule collection with Givenchy and became a regular on the FROW at Burberry. And each time, he did so in proper style.
On the Nosferatu and Juror #2 press runs, Nicholas Hoult served up a selection of excellent suits, from Dior and Saint Laurent, while his street style packed a punch with sleek accessories from the likes of Métier and Stoffa.
Jacob Elordi does the red carpet well, but he's the king of street style. Louis Vuitton Speedy bags and Bottega Veneta Andiamos are the order of everyday, as are cutesy cardigans and slip-on shoes.
Cooper Koch' sudden rise to fame came after his role in Monsters alongside Javier Bardem. But he's stepped up to the game, and you'd be forgiven for thinking he's a red carpet vet with his killer Saint Laurent suits and polished shoes.
No one has as much fun as Lewis Hamilton in the pit lanes. He's out there sporting Burberry (as seen here), Nanushka and Dries Van Noten. He looks so good, in fact, that he scooped his own collection with Dior this year. He can do it all.
The Iron Claw and Babygirl actor Harris Dickinson has become the poster boy of a good suit. He wore Daniel W Fletcher to the Academy Gala, a 1970s vibing Tiger of Sweden suit to GQ Men of the Year and Prada at Venice Film Festival.
Jude Law has found his style: louche suits, floaty shirts and the odd thin, silk scarf. It works for him, and it works for us.
Bill Skarsgård came out top trumps this year with his slick suiting, which was boxy in all the right places.
