3 Reasons To Try A Tough Mudder

3 Reasons To Try A Tough Mudder

As far as endurance tests go, the Tough Mudder is one of the most difficult. The 12-mile course featuring a number of obstacles is designed to punish you, push you to your limits and test your perseverance to the maximum. Tough Mudder certainly isn’t any old jog around the park.

With events in the UK & Ireland, North America, Australia and Germany, this brutal test of stamina has become incredibly popular over the last 2 years. So just why are people putting themselves through the likes of electric wire, tear gas, fire and mud, lots of mud, for the sake of t-shirt ? 3 reasons stand out for us…

THE SENSE OF ACHIEVEMENT

Much like running the London Marathon, beating a Tough Mudder gives you a genuine sense of achievement. If you’re one who likes to push both your body and mind, you’re going to want to attempt one of these. Unlike a marathon, you’ve got to contend with the army obstacles as well as the gruelling distance; certainly not for the weak hearted and one to tell you’re friends and colleagues about afterwards.

TO GET IN SHAPE

You don’t just turn up to a Tough Mudder and stroll through, not if you’ve got any sense that is. The training is a massive part of it. The half-marathon alone is going to require you to be in shape, factor in the climbing, log carrying, crawling and the like on top of that and you’ll realise why you need to be in peak condition. If you’re in need of a goal to get in shape for, Tough Mudder is it.

CAMARADERIE

It may have a finish line but Tough Mudder isn’t a race, the goal isn’t to win, it’s to finish and there’s a real solidarity between participants. Many of the obstacles simply aren’t beatable on your own. It’ll require the help of a friend or even a total stranger to climb certain walls or pull you out of the ice-cold watery pit you’ve just plummeted into from the Tarzan rings. Simply put, there’s nothing quite like it.
