What a £1 million a year London penthouse looks like inside

London is home to 77 of the world’s billionaires – more than any other city in the world. The ultra-rich flocking to the city regularly need somewhere to stay and a bedsit, no matter how central or plush it is, just isn’t going to cut the mustard.

Whilst seven figures will net you a rather nice house to own in the capital, it can also afford you a four-bedroom place in the most exclusive building in the country, One Hyde Park – although only for a year. Situated opposite the green expanse it shares its name with, the building is home to the prime minister of Pakistan, the president of Kazakhstan, numerous oligarchs and various sheiks and was developed as a joint venture between Christian Candy’s CPC Group and the former Prime Minister of Qatar’s private company Waterknights.

10 apartments in the high-security block are currently listed as for sale, and now a four-bed has recently come up for let. Available on a short-team lease for £22,500 per week or £90,000 per month, a year’s contract will cost you £1.17 million in rent a year.

For letting agent Tunstall Property, it’s not even the most expensive home in the development they’ve taken on, last year they managed to find a tenant for one costing £45,000 per week. Nor is it even close to the most expensive rental in the building: in 2014, a five-bedroom flat was available for £195,000 per month.

As you’d expect the amenities go beyond those of your usual London flat. A private cinema, pool, spa, squash court, golfing area and wine cave are all part and parcel, of course, with the fourth bedroom also having been converted to a media room.
