This year Vacheron Constantin celebrates its 270th anniversary, marking it as the oldest continuously operating watch manufacturer in the world. Since 1755 it has been associated with high watchmaking excellence, and that isn't about to change.
To mark its milestone year, the Swiss manufacturer has unveiled a new timepiece worthy of such a prestigious reputation. The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Grand Complication Openface is the hero model in the Overseas collection and it is the first minute repeater in the line-up. Equipped with Calibre 2755 QP, the titanium-cased watch has a perpetual calendar and a tourbillon. This wasn't easy: The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Grand Complication Openface is the outcome of a long process to meet the challenge of integrating a grand complication mechanism into an elegant case. The challenge with this model was to ensure the water-resistance of the Overseas case, while adapting its lines to Calibre 2755 QP. But Vacheron Constantin was able to do it.
What's more, this bit of wristgear is something to be marvelled at due to its size. The new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Grand Complication Openface has a 44.5mm case made of grade 5 titanium (along with a matching bracelet), and despite the wider case sizing for an Overseas watch, this timepiece comes in at just 13.1mm thick. In aesthetics, the watch has a sporty vibe, while on the back a sapphire dial allows a look in at the impressively complex mechanisms.
